Support for Lakota Skateboarding

Lakota Skateboarding is a community-driven skateboarding movement born and raised in Pine Ridge, South Dakota, led by local skateboarder Kyle Mesteth. Operating out of Ground Control, the indoor skatepark Kyle built in Pine Ridge, the program supports local youth and nurtures their creativity through skateboarding. Activities include competitions, workshops, filmmaking, music, and other expressions of skateboarding culture.

We have worked with Kyle since 2022 in support of his ongoing efforts to create safe, inclusive, and creative spaces for youth in the community.

Beyond providing skateboards, our support has included partnering with Sage to Saddle to purchase a van for Lakota Skateboarding to travel to nearby skateparks, as well as donating cameras and computers to equip Ground Control’s media lab.
